Double-column layouts (used by IEEE, ACM, Nature, and major reports) are designed for A4 paper. Navigating them on phone screens or Kindle devices requires constant zooming, dragging right, scrolling down, and panning back up. It breaks reading comprehension completely.
Our processor implements a smart paragraph reflow and vertical partition barrier scan. It analyzes character coordinates to map double-column gutters, divides the layout, and weaves segments vertically (left column first, then right).
